Following an investigation initiated in 2024 by the Sparta Township Police Department and the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office, store owner Devin A. Pupo has faced legal action regarding illegal marijuana sales at the "Green Remedies" retail store. Prosecutors alleged the business was operating as an unlicensed marijuana dispensary. Pupo recently entered a guilty plea for second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. As part of the enforcement action and subsequent plea, authorities seized approximately 20 pounds of raw marijuana, a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban, and $477,135.28 in cash. Pupo has consented to the forfeiture of the cash and vehicle, with sentencing scheduled for January 2027.
