Evergreen law guide

Georgia operates a narrow medical access programme built around low-THC oil for patients on a state registry, with cultivation and dispensing licences issued to a small number of businesses. Adult-use is not authorised. Outside that programme, possession and the sale of restricted quantities can be charged as misdemeanours, and larger quantities escalate.

The state has also tightened limits on hemp-derived cannabinoid products sold at retail, so a product that is lawful as agricultural hemp in another state may not be lawful on a Georgia shelf.

Business impact

Retailers and convenience stores carrying hemp-derived cannabinoid lines should verify each product against the state's restrictions, because a mislabelled or over-limit product carries criminal rather than purely civil exposure here.
